Continental Shelf Department became a member of EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) in October
2014.
EGS
represents 38 National Geological Surveys and some regional
surveys in Europe with several thousand specialists working in numerous
applications of geosciences. These applications include the use and management
of natural resources and the identification of natural hazards of geological
origin. EGS is non-profit organisation working solely for the public interest.
EGS aims at providing European Institutions with expert,
neutral, balanced and practical pan-European advice and information as an
aid to problem-solving, policy, regulatory and programme formulation.
The portals of EGS (http://www.eurogeosurveys.org/)
and the European Geological Data Infrastructure (EGDI) (http://www.europe-geology.eu/) provide
access to geoscientific metadata, information and knowledge at European and
national scales. The EGS portal also presents information on EGS, its activities and Member
Organizations.
